FORT MYERS, Fla.- Many of the most distinctive voices in the nation and world will converge in mid-November, for a three-day gathering.
Randy Thomas, an accomplished voice-over artist, is organizing and promoting the event. It will bring up to 100 people to the downtown area for seminars and workshops.
“I moved here more than 10 years ago, and all my friends in New York and Los Angeles always say, how’s it going there in Fort Myers? Sounds like a neat place. So I decided to have an event here, to show off our town,” said Thomas.
She is a veteran of radio and voice announcing. Thomas is the first woman to announce the Academy Awards, and she also has announced the Tony and Emmy awards. Thomas does voice work for Entertainment Tonight, and for many local radio and television stations in America.
“I am all about giving back. I want to contribute to this community and to this downtown, which has come so far in recent years. It is a destination now,” said Thomas.
The voice event is open to anyone and Thomas says people in sales and phone work would gain from the seminars and workshops.
“We can show you the secrets, how these professionals tap that power within, when speaking,” Thomas tells WINK News.
She is partnering with the Sydney and Berne Davis Art Center in Fort Myers, as well as Ford’s Garage and Blu Sushi restaurants, and the Indigo hotel.
The event will include professionals reading to the children of veterans, and kids from the children’s hospital and from the Harlem Heights community, on Sunday, Nov. 16.
